Jam Room

Terms

Last updated October 25, 2026

Jam Room is built and run by John Moll, one person, as a personal project. These terms are an agreement between you and me. By ticking the box to agree, or by using Jam Room, you accept them. If you don't, please don't use it.

Early access

Jam Room is in early development. It's free, and it's not finished. Expect bugs, things that change or disappear, slow moments, and times it's down. It may stop running altogether. If it does, I'll try to give you notice so you can download your things, but I can't promise to.

Keep your own copies

Jam Room isn't a backup. Recordings, songs, files, messages, and records can be lost or damaged by a bug or an outage. Keep the originals of anything that matters to you somewhere else.

Bank and invoices

The Bank and Invoices help a band keep track of who paid what and what it's owed. No money moves through Jam Room. Check the numbers yourself before you rely on them: they aren't accounting, tax, legal, or financial advice. You're responsible for the invoices you send and for what you agree with your bandmates and anyone who pays you.

Your stuff stays yours

You own what you put in Jam Room. You give me permission to store it, copy it, process it (like making a smaller copy of a recording so it plays quickly), and show it to the people your band's settings let see it, only so Jam Room can work. I don't claim any ownership of it and don't sell it. Something you delete may stay in storage for a while before it's gone. See Privacy for who sees what.

What you put in

Make sure you have the right to share anything you upload. Don't use Jam Room to break the law or harass anyone, and don't try to get into other people's accounts or bands, or to break or overload Jam Room. Remember that a bootleg link is public: anyone who has it can listen. I may remove content or end someone's access if they break these terms.

Keep access to your email secure, since it's how you sign in. You're responsible for what happens in your account. A band's owners and admins decide who's in it.

Other services

Jam Room runs on other companies' services for hosting, the database, file storage, audio processing, email, and analytics. When one of them has a problem, Jam Room may too.

No warranty

JAM ROOM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ANY WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. I DON'T PROMISE THAT IT WILL BE AVAILABLE, SECURE, ACCURATE, OR FREE OF ERRORS, OR THAT ANYTHING YOU PUT IN IT WILL BE KEPT. YOU USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Limit of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, I WON'T BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, RECORDINGS, CONTENT, MONEY, PROFITS, OR OPPORTUNITIES, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO JAM ROOM OR THESE TERMS, EVEN IF I WAS TOLD THEY MIGHT HAPPEN. MY TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ABOUT JAM ROOM IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF WHAT YOU PAID ME FOR IT IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM (IT'S FREE, SO THAT'S $0) OR US$50.

You agree to cover my costs, including reasonable legal fees, if someone brings a claim against me because of what you put in Jam Room or because you broke these terms.

Changes and leaving

I may update these terms. When a change matters, Jam Room will ask you to agree again before you go on. You can stop using Jam Room at any time. I may suspend or end your access, for example if you break these terms or if Jam Room shuts down. The sections on your stuff, no warranty, and the limit of liability still apply after that.

The law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute goes to the state or federal courts in Tennessee. Some places don't allow some of the limits above. Where that's so, they apply as far as the law allows. If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
